Car dealerships across North America have had to go back to using pen & paper after software giant CDK Global got hit with back-to-back cyberattacks, leading to an outage.
CDK makes the software that thousands of car dealerships use to run their day-to-day operations, including vehicle sales and financing paperwork. The attack appears to be a ransomware situation, and untold amounts of personal data could be at risk.
KSN Channel 3 turned to Bill to give his insights on the situation.
Those affected, or who think they might be affected, will want to monitor, and consider freezing, their credit. There may be a wave of phishing and scam attempts trying to cash in on the situation as well - be on the lookout and think critically about anyone trying to contact you in regards to the breach, especially if they claim to be from CDK.
